If you wanna be a power user, you shouldn’t deny the usefulness of hotkeys. They improve your everyday work and give an absolute boost to your productivity. These common hotkey combinations will certainly come in handy for every Windows and OS X user! Windows provides the number of hotkeys or shortcuts keys combination using which you can’t even need to touch your mouse and your hand will work like a lightning on the keyword. Here are the few shortcuts keys which I personally use and I advice you to use them. Also don’t panic how I will remember so many shortcuts keys, use them daily will make you addict to use them.

Windows Key + E

Pressing the Windows key + E opens the file manager window on your PC. For Mac users, this is your Finder app. This is a very useful shortcut key when you are doing any work and suddenly you need to look in your File Explorer to look for any image or any video you can open directly your File Explorer by pressing this key combination.

Windows Key+D (or Windows Key+M)

If you have too many apps open and you need to use another one hidden behind all those windows on your desktop, you can minimize all of them at once by pushing the Windows key + D or by using Windows key + M.

Windows Key + Print Screen (prt sc key on the keyboard )

If you want to take a screenshot and immediately save it in the Image folder on your hard drive then use the Windows key + Print Screen. This is also a very useful shortcut to capture your screen immediately without using any third-party apps.

Windows Key + Tab (or Ctrl + Alt + Tab)

Pressing Windows Key + Tab (or Ctrl + Alt + Tab) will show you all the apps currently running on your PC. Windows Key + Tab is used to navigate between the different apps and Ctrl + Alt +Tab is used to select one of the open apps.

This is also a very useful shortcut to use because without using it you need to make use of mouse to navigate between the different apps.

Windows Key + Left or Right Arrow

Pressing the above key combination will let you to split-screen between two apps. – Open one app that you need for your work and press the Windows key + left arrow. Then, open another app and click the Windows key + right arrow. Now, two windows are sharing your screen!

Ctrl + A

Ctrl + A, press it together on the keyboard and it will help you select all items in a document or window at once. This one is also useful otherwise you have to manually select all the content by hovering the mouse on the screen.

Tab

The TAB key can be used for jumping between boxes on an online form. Also using the Shift + Tab brings you back to the previous form box. It is used to advance the cursor to the next tab stop. Using the Tab key is much quicker than reaching for the mouse, positioning it in the next box, click on the left mouse button, lifting your hand, put your fingers back in the correct keyboard positions, and typing again.

Ctrl + Shift +Esc

This is the shortcut to open the Task Manager of your pc. Press this Ctrl + Shift + Esc key combination and this will open your PC task manager and you can see what resources are used by which app or you can manage your process or troubleshooting.

Windows Key plus + or –

Want to open a magnifier instantly, don’t worry there is a very quick way to open magnifier app by pressing the Windows key combined with + or - key that allows you to zoom in and out wherever your cursor points.

Alt+F

This is also a very handy keyboard shortcut that often used to open the file menu or File tab depending on the program you’re using. So next time not to worry to hold the mouse and open the File menu of the program you are using, just press Alt + F.

Windows + I

This shortcut key combination is used to access the setting. If you need more tweaking or access to more advanced parameters of your PC, you can have it all! Use the Windows key + I to do just that.

Ctrl + Home

Hey, are you tired of moving the cursor back to the beginning of the document when you reach the end of any document? Then don’t worry this key shortcut is very useful to you. Ctrl+Home is a shortcut key that moves the cursor to the beginning of a document.

Browser shortcut key combinations 

There are some shortcuts which are really helpful when you work in a browser.

Ctrl + Shift + N : This combination opens a new browser window in Incognito mode in Chrome.

Ctrl + Shift + T : Reopens a closed tab. Very handy when you accidentally close a tab. Instead of going through history, just use this shortcut.

Ctrl + Tab: The easiest way to switch through the tabs. Similar to Alt + tab which switch through windows. Again, you can use a shift key with this combination to switch backward.

Ctrl + T : Opens a new tab in the same browser window.

Ctrl + L : Whether you want to enter some other link or search for something else, in any case, you can go to the address bar quickly with this shortcut.
